Campaigns

From our Mission Statement: ITSN pursues its goals through the Coordination of strategic Campaigns....

ITSN has set up Campaign Working Groups (CWGs) that are charged with the design and implementation of co-ordinated strategies. They were first introduced as a mechanism to plan and coordinate campaigns following the 4th International Conference of Tibet Support Groups (Prague, 2003), at which time seven CWGs were established by ITSN members.

The Olympics Campaign Workgroup coordinated

The formation of these groups rests on the following premise: the large number of campaigns independently designed and carried out by individual TSGs forms a strong basis for the movement. Co-ordinated action will not replace locally designed projects; the movement needs both broad and narrow focus.

The impact of our efforts, however, can be strengthened by co-ordinated campaigns that we participate in together. Thus the central focus of the CWGs is to determine what we can do together better than we can do separately. The CWGs are therefore charged with the role of being the strategizing, planning and implementation bodies for co-ordinated global campaigns that reflect both the geographical spread and range of ITSN member organisations.

There is currently one ad-hoc Working Group, developing a campaign around the 50th Anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising, as well as the:

Human Rights Working Group
Economic Rights Working Group

The Olympics Campaign Working Group recently concluded its work on the Olympics Campaign.

The CWG Guidelines are available for member organizations to download from the Worksite. The Guidelines are located in the Resources folder.
